Youth Camp F.A.Q.

Q. What happened to Middle School/High School Camp?

A. The Pilgrim Point Camp Committee voted to shift how we are doing camps for youth. We will no longer have middle school and high school week but instead two similar youth camp week experiences where congregations attend with leaders and their young people.

Q. Why was this shift made?

A. In large part to fit in line with the Minnesota Conference UCC’s strategic priority of strengthening congregations by making youth camp a part of a church’s youth program year. We believe this will strengthen our congregations’ ministries, hopefully encourage more active participation at Pilgrim Point and facilitate an overall more meaningful experience.

Q. Which week is my church attending?

A. Your youth leader should have that information but there is a chance we never heard back from them. Please email Zac or contact your youth director to find out which week your church is attending!

Q. I’m an adult attending with youth, what is required of me?

A. Since Youth Camp is gaining a focus on the congregation, your active participation and leadership at camp is key to its success. In spring (March 29th) there will be an adult leader workday that will involve training, program development and team building – we urge you to attend. You will be required to submit the same Health Form as youth, as well as a Self-disclosure background check. Once your background check is complete, there will be an online safety course you will complete in accordance with the MN Conference’s Safe Conduct Policy.

Q. What if there’s only 1 person coming from my church and no adult leader can attend?

A. We are encouraging churches to send youth and adults to camp at a ration of 4:1. However, there are congregations that will only have 1 or 2 young people attending and will not be able to send an adult. We want to make sure every youth at camp feels welcome and part of the full ministry happening, therefore adults attending camp will be invited to build relationships broadly so that we extend radical welcome & hospitality to everyone! If you’re the only one able to come, don’t worry – you’re welcome!
